Joliet shooting kills 7 as authorities search for suspect

Joliet authorities said Monday at least seven people were fatally shot inside two different residences in the 2200 block of West Acres Road, according to local media reports.

The suspected shooter Romeo Nance, was reportedly driving a Red Toyota Camry with the license plate Q730412 and should be considered armed and dangerous,” said the police.

According to the local authorities, officials responded to the residences along West Acres Road, where multiple people with gunshot injuries were found dead.

“The information remains fluid and ever-changing as this investigation progresses,” a Facebook post late Monday afternoon by authorities read.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office said that it was attempting to locate the same vehicle in connection with two additional shootings that occurred on Sunday.

According to authorities, at around 4:27pm, officers responded to a shooting at the Pheasant Run Apartments in unincorporated Joliet Township and found a man bleeding from the head with an apparent gunshot wound.

The victim — identified as 28-year-old Toyosi Bakare — was pronounced dead after he was transported to an area hospital.

Jungle said, “he was originally from Nigeria and had been in Will County for the past three years.”
